Integration & Automation Engineer – BizTalk & EDI

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Integration & Automation Engineer to join Co Valere, with deep expertise in Microsoft BizTalk Server and B2B/EDI integrations. This role is well suited to an engineer who operates confidently with minimal supervision, takes ownership of mission-critical integrations, and brings a pragmatic, outcomes-driven approach to delivery and support.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in designing, delivering, and supporting enterprise-grade integration solutions that enable secure data exchange, operational efficiency, and business continuity for our clients.
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, integration architects, project managers, and external trading partners to ensure integrations are robust, scalable, and aligned to business processes and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain integration solutions using Microsoft BizTalk Server, including schemas, maps, pipelines, and orchestrations.
Deliver and support EDI integrations, working with standards such as EDIFACT and X12, and protocols including AS2.
Own the end-to-end lifecycle of B2B integrations, from requirements gathering and partner onboarding through to production support.
Collaborate with internal teams and external trading partners to define integration requirements and agree technical specifications.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve integration issues proactively, ensuring high availability and minimal business disruption.
Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation covering integration designs, mappings, configurations, and operational procedures.
Contribute to wider automation, integration modernisation, and digital transformation initiatives across client environments.
Ensure integrations comply with data security, governance, and industry standards.

Key Requirements:

Strong, hands-on experience with 3-4 years Microsoft BizTalk Server, including schema design, mapping, orchestration, and pipeline development.
Proven experience delivering and supporting EDI solutions, particularly EDIFACT, X12, and AS2.
Solid understanding of integration patterns, messaging concepts, and middleware best practices.
Experience working with XML, XSLT, flat file schemas, and REST/SOAP web services.
Practical development or scripting experience using C#, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
Experience with message tracking, logging, error handling, and operational support within BizTalk environments.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex integration issues.
Clear communication skills and confidence working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable:

Experience supporting BizTalk to Azure Integration Services (AIS) migrations or hybrid integration architectures.
Exposure to modern iPaaS and automation platforms such as Workato, Boomi, MuleSoft, Logic Apps, or Power Automate.
Experience with B2B/EDI compliance, trading partner onboarding, and support processes.
Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment approaches.
Experience using BizTalk360 for monitoring and operational management.

This role is well suited to a Project Manager who operates confidently with minimal supervision, can manage complex stakeholder environments, and brings a pragmatic, outcomes-driven approach to delivery.

The successful candidate will work closely with clients, integration specialists, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard, with clear governance, strong risk management, and measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the end-to-end delivery of integration, automation, and business process transformation projects, from initiation through to successful closure.
Own project planning, governance, and delivery assurance, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Work collaboratively with technical and business stakeholders to shape delivery approaches, clarify requirements, and define realistic delivery plans.
Establish and maintain effective project governance, including steering groups, status reporting, financial tracking, and RAID management.

Key Requirements:

Demonstrable experience managing integration-led or business process transformation projects.
Solid understanding of systems integration concepts, process mapping, and end-to-end business process design.
Experience working with a mix of Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery approaches.
Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders and complex delivery dependencies.
Experience working alongside architects, integration engineers and offshore development teams.
Strong planning, financial management, and reporting skills.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with confidence engaging at both operational and leadership levels.
Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive progress.

Desirable:
